The First Day
14 Dec 2022
I have spent most of the day just walking and keeping in my own mind. For the first few hours my gait has been enchanted and hopeful from the well-wishes of my friends that I've said goodbye to. I will miss them all so much and hopefully I'll see them again someday. After a while it has started to occur to me just how bored I may get, so I decided to try to come up with some small little games to play with myself on this journey... at least I tried to. Instead, I got lost in my thought about this book and what I wrote as my opening excerpt in it. I should have written more about where I came from and what it is like there.
Caste Maernol, located in the south-western portion of the Hanor Peninsula. The city itself is fairly large with a wooden palisade surrounding about half of it. The population has been booming, and the conversion of the wall to stone has barely even started. The castle itself is fantastical and large, made of and surrounded by walls of stone. The King never shows himself. A lot of people thinks he's dead, and with his activity he might as well be. The city itself is nestled right next to a fairly large river in a forest with trees that look like cones. I've grown to adore those trees, and maybe I'll miss them as much as my friends! Anyway, I've left through the east gate and I plan on heading north-east towards these weird people called the "Rabuna". Nobody in the city was able to describe what they looked like, just that they weren't human. It makes me wonder why none of these "Rabuna" have ever tried to come to the city. It's a great place.
I'm about at the end of this page so I'll have to wrap this entry up. I decided to set up camp a little off the roads, and a little bit before some farmland. I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to set up camp around there. I probably would have scared the farmers. I really don't know how to end this journal entry, so I guess I'll just stop writing.
Author's note: The spelling of "Caste Maernol" is intentional. That's how the Maernolians say "Castle" (Also the "e" is pronounced like in Cafe)
